Early Life
Raised in Louisiana by his mother and a stepfather he believed was his biological father, Tim McGraw grew up singing along to country 8-tracks in the cab of an 18-wheeler and eventually attended college on a baseball scholarship before discovering at age 11 that his real father was MLB pitcher Tug McGraw.

After moving to Nashville in 1989 and signing with Curb Records in 1990, Tim McGraw released a self-titled debut album in 1993 that failed to chart.
