Merle Haggard (1937-2016), a country music icon, rose from a troubled youth to stardom. Hits like "Mama Tried," "Okie From Muskogee," and "Workin' Man Blues" defined his career. He won multiple CMA and ACM awards, and a Grammy for "That's The Way Love Goes". He is one of the leaders of the Outlaw Country movement and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
