Born in Japan to a Navy family and raised in Oologah, Oklahoma, Zach Bryan grew up in a household where both parents and his grandfather served in the military, leading him to enlist in the Navy at seventeen while spending his downtime writing raw songs and practicing guitar in his barracks.

Zach Bryan began his career while serving in the U.S. Navy by uploading iPhone-recorded videos of his original songs to YouTube, a grassroots effort that led to the viral 2019 breakout of "Heading South" and two self-produced albums recorded in Airbnbs and barns.
