Kacey Musgraves is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She has won six Grammy Awards, six Country Music Association Awards, and three Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2012, she signed with Mercury Nashville and released the hit single "Merry Go 'Round". Her major-label debut studio album, Same Trailer Different Park (2013), won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
Early Life
Born prematurely in Golden, Texas, Kacey Musgraves began yodeling and writing songs by age eight with the support of her artistic parents and grandmother, eventually performing as part of the duo Texas Two Bits and at the 2002 Winter Olympics before graduating from Mineola High School.
Career Highlights
After finishing seventh on Nashville Star in 2007, Musgraves moved to Nashville and signed with Mercury Nashville in 2012, launching her major-label debut with the Grammy-winning single Merry Go 'Round. Her 2013 album Same Trailer Different Park established her as a progressive country voice, leading to her massive 2018 crossover breakout Golden Hour which won four Grammys including Album of the Year. She later made history as the only artist to win a Grammy in every country category following her 2024 success with Deeper Well.
