Early Life
Born July 30, 2003, in Bow Island, Alberta, a small town in the dramatic coulees and hoodoo country of the Alberta Badlands, Noeline Hofmann is the daughter of aerial applicators whose family stretches back through generations of prairie farmers, and she grew up surrounded by ranch culture and wide-open landscapes that deeply inform every song she writes. She began performing at age five, started writing songs between ages 12 and 13 as a way to make sense of the world around her, and taught herself classical guitar theory in high school on her own initiative after her parents deliberately kept her away from formal conservatory training so that music would always feel like an outlet rather than an obligation.
Career Highlights
After graduating high school, Hofmann worked as a cashier, receptionist, and server at a local restaurant called Bobby's Grill, which later inspired her song "Bob's," before moving to a ranch in western Manitoba in the spring of 2021 to work as a ranch hand at Poplarview Stock Farm, a formative experience she has called an intense coming of age. She began playing small venues near her hometown in southern Alberta in mid-2023, and in 2024 posted a clip of her original song "Purple Gas" on TikTok that caught the ear of Zach Bryan, who called it "one of the most beautiful songs ever written," invited her onto his Belting Bronco YouTube series, and recorded it as a duet for his album The Great American Bar Scene, landing Hofmann on the Billboard Hot 100 and setting her career in motion within months. She signed with La Honda Records in June 2024, released her debut EP "Purple Gas" in October 2024, won SiriusXM's Top of the Country competition, made her Grand Ole Opry debut, and spent 2024 opening for Colter Wall, Wyatt Flores, Charley Crockett, the Turnpike Troubadours, and Shane Smith and the Saints.
Family & Personal Life
Hofmann has described her parents as deeply supportive of her music from the very beginning, crediting their decision to keep her away from formal conservatory training as one of the key reasons she fell genuinely in love with the craft rather than treating it as an obligation. She is 22 years old and keeps her personal life intensely private, with no confirmed relationship details publicly available. Her songwriting draws from her own lived experiences on the prairies, on the ranch, and in the honky-tonks of rural Alberta, and she has said her songs are her way of sharing the world she observes around her.
