Keith Whitley, a country music artist, gained prominence in the 1980s. His notable albums include "L.A. to Miami" and "Don't Close Your Eyes," which produced several number-one hits. Songs like "Don't Close Your Eyes," "When You Say Nothing at All," and "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" were very successful. He won a CMA award for single of the year, and also won a CMA award for vocal event of the year. His career was cut short by his death in 1989. He was posthumously added to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
