Dan + Shay is an American country music duo formed in 2013. Members Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have released five albums, including their latest, "Bigger Houses." They are best known for their hit songs "Tequila" and "10,000 Hours" (with Justin Bieber).
Early Life
Pennsylvania native Dan Smyers balanced his early passion for songwriting with finance studies and football, while Arkansas-born Shay Mooney began writing music at twelve and even spent time as a solo artist on T-Pain's record label before they met in Nashville.
Career Highlights
After moving to Nashville to pursue solo careers, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney met at a 2012 house party and signed with Warner Music Nashville within months of writing their first song. They broke out with their 2013 debut single 19 You + Me and later achieved massive crossover success with the Grammy-winning global smash Tequila. The duo recently made history as the first-ever coaching pair on The Voice and released their fifth studio album, Bigger Houses, in 2023.
Family & Personal Life
Dan Smyers married Abby Law in 2017, and while they do not have children, they are dedicated rescue dog parents. Shay Mooney married former Miss Arkansas Hannah Billingsley in 2017, and they have three sons born in 2017, 2020, and 2023, with a fourth child announced in 2024. Both musicians are in their first marriages and are known for being outspoken about their vegetarian lifestyles and animal advocacy.
Current Tour & Setlist
Dan + Shay are extending The Heartbreak on the Map Tour into 2026, including a stop in Louisville on July 18 with support from Bailey Zimmerman and Richard Marx. Fans can expect a setlist featuring massive hits like Tequila, Speechless, and 10,000 Hours along with newer tracks from their Bigger Houses album.
