The Sheridan Bump: 4 Country Stars Conquering the Yellowstone Universe
By: Brian Zwerner
The "Taylor Sheridan effect" has become the most powerful marketing tool in country music. What started as a curated soundtrack for the Dutton family’s drama has evolved into a launchpad for acting careers and chart-topping albums. Here are the artists currently riding the Yellowstone wave into 2026.
1. Riley Green: Trading the Stage for the Badge in Marshals
The newest addition to the Sheridan universe is Alabama’s own Riley Green. Making his acting debut this month in the Yellowstone spin-off Marshals: A Yellowstone Story, Green plays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL and old comrade-in-arms to Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes).
His transition to the screen feels natural, especially with his new single "My Way" already climbing the charts after being featured on the show’s soundtrack. Seeing Green sit around a campfire with a guitar in the Montana wilderness isn’t just good TV—it’s the perfect branding for his "blue-collar hero" persona.
2. Lainey Wilson: The Triple Threat as 'Abby'
While Riley is the newcomer, Lainey Wilson remains the gold standard for this crossover. After her music was featured in early seasons, Sheridan wrote the role of Abby specifically for her in Season 5.
By playing a musician on screen, Lainey was able to perform hits like "Heart Like a Truck" and "Watermelon Moonshine" for millions of viewers who might never have tuned into a country awards show. That exposure provided the fuel for her current stadium-status success, proving that a recurring role on the ranch is worth more than a dozen radio tours.
3. Ryan Bingham: The Authentic Heart of the Bunkhouse
Long before he was Walker on the ranch, Ryan Bingham was an Oscar-winning songwriter, but Yellowstone gave him a second life in the mainstream. His character’s gritty, nomadic backstory mirrors his own music, and his presence on the show has introduced a whole new generation to his back catalog.
Bingham is currently seeing a massive boost in 2026 as he prepares to release his new album, They Call Us the Lucky Ones (out May 15), proving that his time in the bunkhouse has made him one of the most recognizable faces in the genre.
4. Luke Grimes: From Leading Man to Leading the Charts
Perhaps no one has benefited more from the Sheridan universe than Luke Grimes himself. After years of playing Kayce Dutton, Grimes leveraged his massive platform to finally pursue his first love: country music.
Following his 2024 debut, he just released his sophomore project, Redbird, on April 3, 2026. By balancing his starring role in the new Marshals series with his growing music career, Grimes has successfully bridged the gap between Hollywood star and Nashville staple, showing that the Dutton name carries just as much weight on the radio as it does in Montana.
