Trisha Yearwood (born September 19, 1964) is a Monticello, Georgia-born country legend who went from singing demo tapes for $10 a song and working as a Country Music Hall of Fame tour guide to winning three Grammys, selling over 15 million albums, hosting an Emmy-winning Food Network series, and releasing her most personal album yet in 2025 when she co-wrote every song on "The Mirror" at age 60, finally proving wrong the person who told her at 19 that she wasn't a songwriter.
Current Tour & Setlist
Yearwood launched "The Mirror Tour: An Intimate Acoustic Evening of Stories and Songs" on March 4, 2026, in Santa Rosa, California, a 15-city stripped-down run celebrating the deluxe edition of "The Mirror" alongside fellow co-writers and singer-songwriters Leslie Satcher and Bridgette Tatum, with stops including Aspen, Des Moines, Green Bay, Paducah, a Grand Ole Opry appearance in Nashville on March 22, and a northeastern swing through Albany, Ithaca, Shippensburg, and Wilkes-Barre wrapping on April 12. Yearwood described the tour as bringing the songs to life the way they were written, with just a guitar and a story, and fans can expect new material from "The Mirror" alongside signature career hits including "She's in Love with the Boy," "XXX's and OOO's," "How Do I Live," and "Georgia Rain."
Early Life
Born Patricia Lynn Yearwood on September 19, 1964, in Monticello, Georgia, she grew up on a 30-acre farm in Jasper County where her mother Gwendolyn was a schoolteacher and her father Jack managed the local bank, absorbing everything from Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline to Southern rock and Linda Ronstadt on the family's record player while participating in talent shows, church musicals, and school choral groups from an early age. After graduating high school as outstanding senior girl of the class of 1982, Yearwood attended Young Harris College for an associate degree, then transferred to Belmont University in Nashville to study music business, working as a tour guide at the Country Music Hall of Fame and singing demo recordings for songwriters at between $10 and $30 per song to pay her way through school.
Career Highlights
After completing her music business degree at Belmont in 1987 and interning at MTM Records, Yearwood built Nashville connections that eventually led to singing background vocals on Garth Brooks's 1990 album No Fences, and she signed with MCA Records and released her debut album "Trisha Yearwood" in 1991 with the lead single "She's in Love with the Boy" shooting to number one on the country charts, making her the first female country artist to go platinum on a debut album. Between 1991 and 2000 she released nine studio albums, earning the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1997 and 1998, winning three Grammy Awards, performing at the closing ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta before a broadcast audience of 3.5 billion people, and scoring enduring hits including "XXX's and OOO's," "Walkaway Joe," and "How Do I Live." After decades of recording other writers' songs, Yearwood released "The Mirror" in 2025 on Virgin Music Group and her own Gwendolyn Records, her 16th studio album and the first on which she co-wrote every single track, saying that someone had told her at 19 she was not a songwriter and she had let that be the truth for far too long before this whole writing portal finally opened for her.
Family & Personal Life
Yearwood was married to musician Chris Latham from 1987 to 1991, then to Restless Heart bassist Robert Reynolds from 1994 to 1999, before a long friendship with Garth Brooks became romantic after both had divorced their respective partners. Brooks proposed in the middle of a sold-out concert in Bakersfield, California, and the couple married on December 10, 2005, in an intimate private ceremony at their Nashville home. Yearwood has no biological children but is a devoted stepmother to Brooks's three daughters from his first marriage, and the couple has made charitable work a central part of their partnership, supporting Habitat for Humanity, hunger relief organizations, and education causes throughout their two-decade marriage.
