Treaty Oak Revival are a five-piece West Texas country-rock powerhouse consisting of Sam Canty (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), uncle-and-nephew guitarists Jeremiah Vanley (lead guitar, approximately age 42) and Lance Vanley (rhythm guitar, vocals), drummer Cody Holloway, and bassist Dakota Hernandez, who built their entire career without a major label deal, grinding West Texas honky-tonks into a dual number-one album with "West Texas Degenerate" and a 25-city arena tour that includes their first-ever headline performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2026, proving that authenticity, relentless touring, and a beer-slinging live show can take a band from a vacuum cleaner repair shop jam room to the biggest stages in American music.
Current Tour & Setlist
The "West Texas Degenerate Tour" launched February 5, 2026, in Worcester, Massachusetts, and is hitting 25 arenas and amphitheaters across the country including CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on May 16, the band's first-ever headline show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on July 1, the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago on July 8, Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln on July 11, and Cheyenne Frontier Days on July 17, before a fall arena run adds Virginia Beach, Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, and Houston. Rotating support acts include Wade Forster, William Clark Green, and Gannon Fremin, and fans can expect a setlist anchored by "Bad State of Mind," "Missed Call," "Happy Face," "Boomtown," and deep cuts from all three studio albums.
Early Life
Treaty Oak Revival formed in Odessa, Texas, in 2018 when lead guitarist Jeremiah Vanley, then already in his mid-thirties, was jamming in the back room of an Odessa vacuum cleaner repair shop with his longtime friends bassist Andrew Carey and drummer Cody Holloway, all of whom had grown up absorbing the dual worlds of West Texas country music and heavy metal acts like Metallica, Pantera, and Van Halen. Jeremiah's nephew Lance Vanley, about ten years his junior and a music theory student who had been playing guitar since age nine, joined the group as rhythm guitarist, and the lineup was completed when Sam Canty, a twangy vocalist who brought songwriting chops and a deep love of Texas Red Dirt acts like Cross Canadian Ragweed and David Allan Coe, signed on as lead singer, giving the band a cover-song set list and a West Texas identity before they had written a single original track. The band takes its name from the Treaty Oak in Austin, a legendary tree believed to be the last survivor of a grove once considered a sacred meeting place by the Comanche and Tonkawa people, a fitting symbol for a band that describes itself as a rock band with a country accent.
Career Highlights
After building their reputation playing packed, rowdy rooms across West Texas, Treaty Oak Revival released their debut single "No Vacancy" in 2020 and their self-produced debut album of the same name in 2021, earning a devoted grassroots following and Gold certification. Their second self-released album "Have a Nice Day" debuted at number 174 on the Billboard 200 in November 2023, produced the Gold-certified single "Missed Call," and earned the band their Grand Ole Opry debut in February 2024, while original bassist Andrew Carey departed in June 2025 citing physical and mental strain from touring, with Dakota Hernandez stepping in as replacement. Their third album "West Texas Degenerate," released November 28, 2025, hit number one on both the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts simultaneously, debuted at number 21 on the Billboard 200, earned a Rolling Stone feature, produced the number-one Bubbling Under hit "Bad State of Mind" and a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance, and launched the band into their first-ever arena headline tour entirely on their own independent terms without signing to any major label.
Family & Personal Life
Treaty Oak Revival is a deeply West Texas band whose members have largely stayed rooted in their home region even as their careers have exploded nationally, with frontman Sam Canty married to his wife Kelsi with whom he has a son, and the uncle-nephew guitar partnership of Jeremiah and Lance Vanley at the relational heart of the band's identity. The departure of founding bassist Andrew Carey in June 2025 was the band's first significant lineup change and was met with heartfelt messages from both sides, with Carey's statement that "touring and rocking a little too hard has done a number on back, body, and mind" reflecting the physical demands the band's relentless schedule places on its members.
