Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, is a Nigerian-American artist known for blending country, hip hop, and Americana. His song "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" became a major hit, spending 19 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He was featured on two songs from Beyoncé's album Cowboy Carter. At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, he was nominated for five awards, including Song of the Year, and he also received two CMA Award nominations.
Early Life
Born Collins Obinna Chibueze to Nigerian parents in Virginia, Shaboozey was raised on a blend of his father’s country music collection and hip-hop videos from 106 & Park before spending two years at a Nigerian boarding school and pursuing early interests in filmmaking and storytelling.
Career Highlights
Shaboozey began his music career during the SoundCloud rap era and released his first single Jeff Gordon in 2014 before signing with Republic Records in 2017. He moved to Los Angeles around 2018 to pursue creative opportunities and gained early recognition with his debut album Lady Wrangler and a song on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.
