Kat Luna is a Miami-born, first-generation Cuban American country singer-songwriter who went from appearing on La Voz and American Idol as half of the bilingual duo Kat and Alex to signing a solo deal with Sony Music Nashville, making her Grand Ole Opry debut, and releasing her debut solo EP "That Girl," a deeply personal eight-track project in both English and Spanish that chronicles her journey back to herself after years of trying to fit into a Nashville that didn't always make room for her.

Current Tour & Setlist

Luna is currently focused on releasing new music from her Sony Music Nashville deal, including the single "Back to You" released in October 2025 and the debut EP "That Girl" from March 2025, with UTA handling her booking as she builds toward her first formal touring run. No confirmed 2026 tour dates have been announced as of this writing, but fans can expect her to perform live dates behind her growing catalog, with signature songs including "That Girl," "I Don't," "Left Right," and "Back to You" sure to anchor any setlist.

Early Life

A first-generation Cuban American, Kat Luna was born and raised in Miami in a household where faith, family, and hard work were the foundational values, and she grew up singing in church from an early age, absorbing both the classic country her parents played and the Spanish-language music that defined life at home. She has described moving to Nashville at 19 as the moment she began to lose herself trying to fit in with an industry that didn't fully see her, an experience that became the emotional core of her solo debut and her journey back to the confident, carefree girl she had been growing up in Miami.

Career Highlights

Luna first pursued music professionally after appearing on the Spanish-language talent competition La Voz at age 19, then auditioned for American Idol Season 18 in 2020 alongside her then-boyfriend Alejandro Garrido, where judge Luke Bryan suggested they formalize their act as a duo, launching their career as Kat and Alex. The duo signed with Warner Chappell Music Nashville, released bilingual country music that earned praise from Billboard and CMT and accumulated nearly 20 million streams, before announcing a split both personally and professionally in July 2023. Luna signed as a solo artist with Sony Music Nashville in February 2025, made her Grand Ole Opry debut that same month, was named to Rolling Stone's "25 Spanish-Language Artists We're Rooting For in 2025" and the CMT Next Women of Country Class of 2025, and released her debut solo EP "That Girl" on March 7, 2025, an eight-track project produced by Nathan Chapman (known for his work with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban) and co-written entirely by Luna in both English and Spanish.

Family & Personal Life

Luna and Alex Garrido, who grew up in Georgia to Puerto Rican parents, met through social media after connecting over a love of music, began performing together after rehearsing the song "Shallow" at a park in Miami, fell in love, and eventually married in 2021, with Garrido later taking the solo stage name Alex Georgia following their divorce in 2023 after four years together. Luna has spoken openly about the emotional cost of the split and the identity she lost in Nashville, saying her debut solo EP represents her journey back to who she truly is, and she has not publicly confirmed a new relationship as of 2026.
